PRIDE Champions: Youth-led LGBTQ+ Projects

In 2022, the European Commission launched the European Year of Youth (EYY), encouraging young people to make their voices heard and contribute to shaping a greener, more inclusive, and digital future. As the National Coordinator for the EYY in Ireland, Léargas organised a range of events to celebrate young people and raise awareness of the opportunities available through EU programmes such as Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

To mark the EYY, Léargas supported over 100 projects through Microgrants, providing funding for short-term initiatives. Inclusivity, being one of our core values, was at the heart of many funded activities, including those promoting LGBTQ+ rights and fostering a strong sense of inclusion within participants’ local communities.
